Can You Tell...

Who's a Serb?  A Croat?  A Bosnian Muslim?

Ivo Bigi

Who fought for his country?

AbdulahAdnanToni

Who can never go home to hers?

Vlasta"Zora"Dusana

What does it mean to be a survivor?

Ordinary people living in extraordinary circumstances:
their stories are the heart of A Peaceful Dream

The Crucible of War Project bears witness to the pain and suffering, anxieties and hopes of people for whom war is a close memory.

Those interviewed serve as their own narrators, without intrusion from "expert" analysts far removed from the realities of everyday life. Interviewers of the same nationality have spent time with their subjects to elicit honest, if often contradictory, responses.

A chorus of voices illustrates the fear and hope that prevails in the former and current Yugoslavia. They personify the struggle to look to the future while not forgetting the past.

From the fighters to the forgotten, the priests to the peasants, we witness a people seeking some semblance of peace amidst the crucible of war.
