Producer Erica Ginsberg quoted on the "Year of the Documentary."

The official U.S. premiere of Crucible of War was at the Artivist Film Festival in Hollywood, California on April 24 and 25, 2004.  Photos.

The Association for the Study of Nationality screened Crucible of War as part of its annual convention, April 15-17, 2004.  Photos.

The European Premiere for Crucible of War was at the Belgrade Festival of Documentary and Short Films on March 30 and April 2, 2004.  

Pontanima Choir Wins Award from Search for Common Ground.  The inter-religious Bosnian choir, which is featured in Crucible of War, was presented with a Common Ground Music Award from Search for Common Ground on March 18, 2004 at the Embassy of Austria in Washington DC.  They also performed at a number of venues in Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. 

Crucible of War Screened to Balkan Experts at the Wilson Center.  More than 100 people filled the auditorium at Washington DC's Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars on February 11, 2004 for a sneak-preview screening of Crucible of War.   Following the screening, director Leon Gerskovic and producer Erica Ginsberg took questions and comments from the audience -- made up of scholars and representatives from the U.S. government and NGOs working in the Balkans.  The event was also covered by Voice of America's Bosnian and Croatian services, a major newspaper in Serbia, and Deutsche Welle.  To see photos from the event, click here.

Producer Erica Ginsberg and Director Leon Gerskovic returned from Amsterdam, Netherlands where the film was featured in the 2003 Docs for Sale market associated with the IDFA.

Composer Scott Burgess joins the team.  Scott will provide both original music and sound design for the film.

Crucible of War team collaborates on project about September 11.  Erica Ginsberg and Leon Gerskovic recently co-produced/directed Talking Threads, a short documentary about student reactions to September 11.   The video was produced as part of a collaborative project of the D-Word Community, an online consortium of documentarians.   It has screened at the Center for Social Media and Montgomery College's Paul Peck Institute for the Humanities and is streamed online at Konscious.com and One World TV.

Editor Penny Lee welcomed to the team.  Award-winning Maryland-based Avid editor Penny Lee is currently editing Crucible of War.

Boru Television collaborating on project.  Silver Spring, Maryland-based production company Boru Television provided its editing suite for logging over 40 hours of video footage.

Project Selected for Documentary Forum in Thessaloniki.  Co-producer Rob Shire went to the 2000 Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in Greece for a pitching forum for producers of Balkan-themed documentaries.   The forum was sponsored by the European Documentary Network and travel was funded by the Soros Documentary Fund.

Producers showcase the photography of Mladi Most at Montgomery College.  Photographs by Bosnian youth make debut exhibit in the United States.

Speaking About Genocide at Johns Hopkins.  Director Leon Gerskovic spoke about recent history in former Yugoslavia at a course on genocide taught by Dr. Myrna Goldenberg at Johns Hopkins University School of Continuing Studies.

Washington Fundraiser a Huge Success.   In March of 2000, the public had a chance to see a preview of Crucible of War at a fundraiser held at the Stuart Mott House in Washington DC.  For pictures of the event, click here.
