Bigi
Bigi wouldn't even know how to begin to identify himself. Like so many other people in the Balkans, his nationality is beyond easy definition. His father is from Serbia. His mother from Montenegro. Both are practicing Muslims. Bigi grew up in Pristina, Kosovo, surrounded by Serbs who shared his language but not his faith and Albanians who shared his faith but not his language. When the war started in Kosovo, he knew that it was not a place in which he would be able to survive. And he knew that he never again wanted to identify himself by religion or nationality, so he fled to a place where he could find a place for himself as an individual. Alas, Bigi's story did not make it to the
screen in the finished documentary. |
